Altar #3 15.00”Hx15.75”Wx2.00”D

Altar #3 is one of a series of three geometric paper sculptures that explore the feeling of a sanctuary, a space that confronts the spiritual seeker with an altar and the opportunity to open oneself to a higher power. In this abstract work, I wanted to create an inner sanctum, a place for reflection, meditation, and peace.  With chaos and crises happening in the world, spiritual seeking is top of mind. I feel compelled to center myself and focus on inner peace. I am inspired by the many altars I have seen in places of worship around the globe. Creating sculptural paper forms by cutting, scoring and folding, I juxtaposed them to emphasize their points of contact and the shadows they cast.

This work is professionally framed and ready for hanging. The frame is white and the work floats atop a white mat. To highlight yet protect the three-dimensional elements of this work, I invested in non-glare Museum Acrylic as its cover.
