This series is a celebration of South Florida's beautiful natural environment. I created these pieces by visiting many of the region's nature centers and using photos I took at each one.

 

I printed these photos onto drawing paper, then cut and mounted them in pieces, with some elements elevated to create a sculptural effect. I then drew into each piece with graphite, charcoal and colored pencil, to highlight shadow, depth, and texture.

In addition to celebrating South Florida's natural landscapes, these works reflect my concern about the health of our planet and hope for harmony between the manmade and natural worlds.
