Banyan Branch 100

Banyan Branch 100

The beautiful and haunting banyan tree intrigues me. This is a close-up of a branch in the tree. I printed the original photo onto archival drawing paper, then cut it into sections and mounted the pieces, with some elevated to interpret the dynamics of the space, creating a bas-relief effect. After mounting, I drew into the piece with colored pencil, graphite, and charcoal, to emphasize shape, form, and shadow.
