"Like a Mother" is part of my series This is the Book We Never Wrote. It honors Milly, a woman my mother hired to care for her three daughters while she worked to provide for us. Milly, a mother of three herself, showed me unconditional love and care when my own mother couldn’t be there. Her kindness and compassion filled a vital role in my life, offering me the acceptance, compassion and attention I needed. While Milly’s devotion to us meant she often sacrificed time with her own children, her daughters later shared with me that they never lacked for love or care.
 
"Like a Mother" is not just a tribute to Milly, but to the transformative power of unconditional love. It’s a celebration of the quiet, often invisible acts of caregiving that shape us, and of the enduring impact one person’s love can have across generations.
 
This work is professionally framed and ready for hanging. The frame is white and the work floats atop a white mat. To highlight yet protect the three-dimensional elements of this work, I invested in non-glare Museum Acrylic as its cover.
