Mangrove and Pines

In this piece I wanted to emphasize the unique shapes and spaces of this fascinating tree, found in South Florida’s coastal and brackish waters. I printed the original photo onto archival drawing paper, then cut it into sections and mounted the pieces, with some elevated to interpret the dynamics of the space and create a bas relief effect. After mounting, I drew into the piece with colored pencil, graphite, and charcoal, to emphasize shape, form, and shadow.

This work is professionally framed and ready for hanging. The framed dimensions are 15.5” H x 21.5” W x 1” D.  The work has a black wood frame with a black mat and is covered by Plexiglas.
